PUBS
These pubs often have music or events at night; it is best to check their windows during the day to see what is happening.
Arnolds Hotel/Whiskey Fly Bar- live music and events like pub quiz on Tuesday’s, Winner Takes All on Friday nights and Take Your Pick on Sunday nights.
The Oyster – TV for matches and open fire place. Lots of live music with local bands.
Molly’s Bar – Newly renovated bar. Have a beer garden in the back with comfy couches that catches the sun’s heat.
Patsy’s Bar – an old favourite. Has a dark, traditional pub feel to it with a cozy fire. Quiz night on Thursdays.
Cafe Arnou – new cocktail/wine bar in Arnold’s hotel.
Nightlife
Roonie’s Night Club – free admission before 12:30 – popular for all ages!
Some Tips:
The Bartenders do not get paid with tips and do not expect them. They will know that you are a visitor, but a tip will generally be appreciated enough that they will soon remember your face the next time you are in and make you feel like a local!
If you order wine at the bar, you will usually get a ¼ bottle.
Mixed cocktails are not popular – most people order pints, a liquor with a mixer, bottles, straight up liquor or non-alcoholic sodas.
Guinness and Tennents often sound alike.
